Can I transfer iPhone data after setup? The answer is no. After you set up your phone you can’t make the quick start transfer where you keep your phones close to each other. You need to reset the new phone again and then the process can be done. It takes some time to transfer for example if you have a full 500 gb it takes around 3-4 hours to finish the transfer.
Apple provides a few different methods to do this:
- iCloud Backup: If your previous iPhone was backed up to iCloud, you can restore this backup to your new iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings on your new iPhone. After the phone restarts, choose to restore from an iCloud backup during the setup process.
- iTunes/Finder Backup: If you have a backup of your old iPhone on your computer using iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later), you can restore this backup to your new iPhone. Connect your new iPhone to the computer, open iTunes/Finder, select your device, and choose ‘Restore Backup’.
- Quick Start: If you still have your old iPhone, you can use Apple’s Quick Start feature for an iPhone-to-iPhone data transfer. Place the two devices near each other and follow the on-screen instructions to transfer data from the old device to the new one.
- Manual Re-Download: You can manually download apps, music, movies, and other content from the App Store, iTunes Store, and iCloud.
- Third-Party Apps: There are also third-party applications available that can assist with transferring data from one iPhone to another or from an Android device to an iPhone.
Remember to back up your old iPhone before starting the transfer process to ensure no data is lost. Also, ensure both devices are charged and connected to Wi-Fi if you’re using wireless methods like iCloud or Quick Start.
